Last week Mitchells Grievson teamed up with MGL Wealth Management Ltd to host a charity golf day at Headlam Hall in aid of MOVE which provides practical and online support to people living with and beyond cancer.
The 9 hole course was in immaculate condition and with the sun shining and not a hint of wind, there were no excuses for the 7 teams of golfers competing for the coveted trophy.
Texas Scramble rules brought considered strategy to the teams of 4 that ranged from seasoned low handicappers to those having hardly ever swung a club prior to the day.
The team captained by Chartered Financial Planner, Barry Talman came to the fore, posting an impressive score of 1 under par. Barry said: “It was a real team effort and there was some fantastic golf played - it's probably my greatest sporting achievement. Thanks to everyone who supported the event as lots of money has been raised for a superb charity.”
Nearest to the pin competitions were held on holes 3 and 7 to raise further funds for the charity. The impressively dressed Andy Metcalfe, who sported pink flamingo matching shorts and cap, won the 139 yard hole 3 competition with a fine shot to within 7ft. Gary Malsbury was captured live on video when he took the spoils on aptly named 'Pond' hole (hole 7). He was overjoyed when he hit his shot to within 5ft with a difficult pin position next to the water.
